A word from the author

*This manual was created to popularize the use of the map editor of the games Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, published by SCS Software. This book is written on the basis of my personal knowledge gained during more than 5,000 hours of mapping. It may contain errors and be incomplete. I hope this manual will help you take the next step in creating new maps for our favorite games. Above all, don't be discouraged. The SCS Software editor may seem complicated at first glance, but it is relatively easy to use. However, it takes a few hours to get the hang of it. I myself, after thousands of hours of practice, regularly learn new things that allow me to gain in productivity and quality. Finally, when you are stuck on a point, the best advice I can give you is to get help. The community around these games is excellent and you can count on it. Do not hesitate to ask questions on the different forums at your disposal.

Good luck to all! MyGodness*

Organization and rigor

You will discover in the pages of this manual that a mod is made up of folders and files, written in English. The organization of these folders and files is very important and their names are very important. Always make sure you respect the location of a particular folder/file. Also be careful when writing. One space too many, one letter too few and your mod may not work anymore.

How a mod works

As said before, the game works by reading several files organized in several folders. When you activate a mod, you tell your game to read the files in the folders of the mod first. Therefore, keep in mind that there should only be files in your mod where you want to make one or more changes. There is no need to overload your mod with files that are identical to the default ones.
